Congregation Ocean Reef

Founded as a Chavurah over 30 years ago, Congregation Ocean Reef has grown exponentially in the past several years. Inspired by the return of so many families to the Reef during Covid, and the building of the new Chapel, the Temple was incorporated in 2021 as a 501c3 organization. The planning for the new Ocean Reef Chapel and Fellowship Center included our community, one of four denominations that share this magnificent new building.  Here at Ocean Reef, we are One Family, within One Community, serving four congregations.  Strength of tradition and family connection are at the heart of our congregation, yet we are so much more. We are a center for Jewish life on the reef, a home away from home where you and your loved ones can share with us in the life-long Jewish journey of learning and discovery.

The central purpose of any synagogue is the development of Jewish spirituality. Here at Congregation Ocean Reef, we believe we best serve God through a pluralistic approach to worship, allowing for the personal experience of prayer to coexist alongside a welcoming spiritual environment for the entire community. In season, we gather together and hold worship services for Shabbat on Friday evenings at 6pm. Once a month we welcome visiting clergy to lead our service, which is then followed by a Shabbat dinner. The morning after, we often invite our congregation to join in an informal, thought provoking and stimulating discussion led by our visiting Rabbi. As our community grows, we look to expand our social and cultural horizons with visiting Jewish scholars, professors, Jewish authors, political pundits, artists, journalists, and more.

Whatever your background, age, or stage of life, we invite you to get to know us by joining our worship services and special events.  We hope that you will find Congregation Ocean Reef at the center of your Jewish life when in Key Largo. And most importantly, we invite you to form lasting relationships that will provide you with strength and support in life’s hard times, shared joy in life’s good times, and friendship at all times.
